Whereas if I stick with Sony EX, I run no chance of this happening.

First of all, if I clog up my heads, swapping out tapes isn't going to
exactly take care of the problem. I'm sure Sony would replace the tape if I
experience a drop out. It won't, however, pay for repairing the camera, or
for flying me back to where ever I was shooting. As I said, it's not all
Panasonic formulations, but I've heard enough anecdotal evidence to convince
me that the problem is very real.

I have no idea what "higher quality" means in this context. I've never
experienced a drop out, either after shooting or from a stored tape --
what's higher quality than that? As for lower price, as I said, $1.50 a
tape isn't incentive for me to risk my heads.
