I don't know, to me an anthem is a 'message', something that tells you
about a country, its ideals, etc. The original language it was written
in is just that, a language, a means to achieve a goal. Be it english,
spanish or french, as long as the message remains, that's what matters.
See, catholic church for hundreds of years forced believers to say
their prayers in the original language, latin. Then someone smart
enough (and brave enough) came to the realization that what was
important in those prayers was the message and the meaning, not the
mindless repetition of words you don't understand. Now (most) churches
say their prayers in their language of choice. I'm all for that.
