Have you actually _seen_ HD? Once you get used to seeing that SD looks kind
of like 8mm movies.

You don't _need_ to. The Matrox products are aimed at the pro market. You
don't need them in order to produce HD--if you're doing it for a living
they pay for themselves fairly quickly in time saved, but if you're not you
can get the same results more slowly.

Mostly realtime. Same thing that the Canopus REX got you with a 400 MHz
PIII.

You don't need a blu-ray drive to use HD, just to distribute long projects
in a reasonably standard single-disk format. You're confusing a
distribution medium with a video format.
