You didn't describe your projector, but if it is capable
of variable speed, I have heard that an interesting strategy
is to run the projector at 29.97 FPS (sync to the video),
so that you end up with exactly one frame of film per one
frame of video. Then, in an NLE, you can "stretch" the
video back to something resembling a "normal" speed.
This relies on the phenomenon that the algorithm for
"stretching" video in most NLEs is "cleaner" than
fooling around with kludge methods of getting the odd
ratios of film vs. video framerates to "sync".
