Are you listening on broadcast radio? BR is a wasteland for music - in
NYC, there's not a single wide-broadcast station that plays really new
music. K-Rock is mostly talk - when it's not they almost never play
anything new; WLIR, the long champion of local indie-rock, sold their
transmitter to a spanish outif that proclaims itslef a Regaaeton
center; Z-100 jumped off the indie-rock (or most of any rock) bandwago
years ago. PLJ is mostly ACHR. 104.3, which is basically a clone of
what WNEW had been, is mostly classic rock, though they air shows like
"Out of the Box" and Steven Van Zandt's "Underground Garage" on Sunday
night which feature new music.
If you want new music, you can get it on internet radio stations
streamed through WinAmp, RP or WMP, and record using a stream recorder
like "Freecorder".
