We have recently aqquired some Z1's after using PD170's for 3 years. We
immediately noticed the Z1's look cooler, or rather, after using both
side by side, the 170 seems artificially warm by maybe a couple of
hundred K. The funny thing is, we shot a grey scale test card side by
side, and on playback, can't pick the difference. How can that be?
The other interesting difference is that the Z1 is a good 1-2 stops
slower, which surprised me as it has a bigger lens. Anyone have thoughts
on why this is? (We are currently using the Z1 in stanndard def 4:3
mode).
Oh and an annoyance with the Z1; the audio is cut off for a second or two
while it rolls up to speed.
