The D-30's image will compare favorably with any "modern" 1/2"chip camera.
And you'll have an added bonus of having access to specialty lenses via
rental - - something you won't have with ANY 1/2" setup.

That said, I wouldn't pay more than about $3k for that combination,
especially if it's an older D-30. The main gotcha for the older ones is the
fact that after about 7 years or so, capacitors start leaking. When that
happens, you can piecemeal it, but it's best to have them all replaced,
which takes a couple of days to a week, and runs about $1k.
