Your absolutely right. The 86% thing was just a plug. The real reason we
switched was because of how Apple dealt with us. They first said it was FCP
issue and told us to uninstall/install which we did without a fix. Then
they said that we needed a FRESH install of everything, so we did that and
it didn't work. Then they accessed the machine, and said our install didn't
take right and that we needed to do it again with some modifications during
the reinstall, which we did and it still didn't work. Then, they after
accessing the machine again, said that the motherboard had an issue and to
take it to a Repair Facility, their exact words, which we did . . however,
the repair facility was an authorized repair facility and NOT a authorized
warranty facility. Hey, we didn't know there was a difference. The sign
was Apple and the other was Macintosh, how are we to know the difference.
Let alone, the file corrupution channeled into the other G5 so we ended up
loosing all the edits. That's when we ran to Best Buy, bought a system,
bought Avid's package, did the install, and in three days turned our project
out two days before the deadline. Otherwise, with Apple/Mac's solution we'd
been in default.

Definately a bad situation and our local TV station brings us work because
we can turn it out faster than they can on their Apple/Mac stations. They
bring us a news tape that they collect by 2p and we can have it ready for
their 6p news. They said they can't do it and that they engineers would go
with our system if they could convince the big guys making the decision to
switch but the big guys all learned from schools that used Apple/Mac and
that is their misfortunate situation (for the engineers that have to do the
work) they even went so far as to tell us that they can't keep vid/aud in
sync one quick turnarounds. not sure what this is, but then we dumped the
entire Apple/Mac after 3 months of frustration and aggrevation, let alone
the expense. :o(
