I just purchased one--Canon DC40. The DVDs I have are single sided 30
minutes but you can record up to 60 minutes. Doing that however does not
give you the greatest quality video. Still I use it on that setting as a
test and the video quality was fine for me. The standard setting of course
was better and I have yet to try the HQ setting which gives you only 14
minutes. If you get the double-sided DVDs, these record times are doubled.
I decided that the record times were not a major issue for me since I had
always had multiple events on a single 60 minute DV Tape.
Its kinda nice to go straight from camera to computer or DVD player without
any conversion though.
I would have preferred a hard drive video camera, but I wanted it from Canon
and they don't have as yet. By the time I ready to replace the DVD cam I'm
hoping they will.
