Book on Directing

Posted by blackburst@aol.com on 05/16/06 15:02

Having published a few things here and there, I am contemplating a book
on live multicamera directing, an area where I have a lot of
experience. beyond standard instruction, it would include war stories
from seasoned vets.

TV is moving in new directions. Much stuff is shot on single camera. A
lot more is done with several non-synchronous cameras, then edited on
an NLE. And with frame-sync switchers, we don't even need to genlock
cameras (but that means no tally or return video).

But still, there is a need for live directing. Sports, special events,
news, all kinds of things, and it is a difficult art to master.

I've checked, and there are very few recent books on the subject.
Anybody know of any?

At the NAB convention bookstore, I asked about live directing books,
and they all said "huh"? Surely there must be a small market for this.
