I agree.. Expo shows like this are a little bit sqeud, and you have to
keep in mind that they dazzle you with bling, in hopes that you'll buy
into it, and spend money on their new products.
I've worked in studios that still have 1 inch Ampex real to reel footage
on tape, but mostly huge DigiBeta and BetaSP libraries. These tape
formats are so embedded into most studios work flows, that even if the
discontinued all tapes, you'll be able to find any machine on eBay for
20 years to come.
