as for us, we didn't move back to PC at all. we were linear editing and
depended on people like yourself to steer us in the direction to GO non
linear editing, and even went so far as told guys like you all to spec the
system out that will make it work for us. their words exactly were this,
"this is a proprietary system that will guarntee that it will work because
it is all compatible with each other because it is a SINGLE SOURCE
responsibility matter" apple/mac. however, it only resulted in single
source trouble with little avenue or streets for fixes. the latter which
really showed us what a small box we had gotten ourselves into.

from this we couldn't go back to pc. we didn't have a pc editor formerly we
had only the apple/mac or go back to linear tape. when the guys wouldn't
use the NLE even after bucco training $$$ i progressively sold the tape gear
to make them use it. what a mistake. for the first time in a four year
growth cycle my company turned a loss for SIX MONTHS because of continual
failures, crashes, and long edit times (partly from long renders in FCP) and
until we turned to PC's (not back but TOO) we nearly died. i could have
held out for maybe two more months before i would have had to cut my
business.

since switching (not back to, but to) windows PC's and avid we are back on
course and in just 8 months are back on the 15-45 degree upward climb again,
just picked up six months later. in other words, we LOST six months of
growth due to our apple/mac solution, but we got it back when we went to
pc's and avid. btw, our training was limited to ONE DVD that cost under
$100 by a 3rd party instead of $$$ for the apple/mac solution.
