great! Nappy, we too to our G5 to a live taping and turned what could have
been a great taping into a nightmare. when protools just up and crashed
during the recording session and ending up corrupting the entire recordings,
we asked the client politely if we could take a couple hour break and
fortunately for us we had just purchased the pc a couple weeks earlier as a
test and had cubase sl3 installed and took it as a back up since our
experiences with apple/macs had been baaaaaad thus far, to which, we brought
that machine in, fired it up and by the time they all returned from lunch
started over and saved the day with a pc. it was days like that (and there
were many) where we said, "we gotta get rid of this crap!" or i'd have to
listen to this, "please boss, lets go back to tape."
the noise turned to music when we went pc and avid. and as i've said
repeatedly, amoung of list of clients that adds to our margins are the
apple/mac stations who come to us when they either crap out, can't do, or
take to long to edit/render, wherein we get a HOT job that is always worth
more money. and thanks to their bosses who listen to salesmen and
manufacturers and NOT USERS, they won't switch to pc's, which only sweetens
our pot :o)
