As I said in reply to the e-mail you sent me (bad manners, by the way -
reply *only* in channel unless directed otherwise) you are revealing
your 'newbie' status here. 'Froups' has been a valid term when
referring to Usenet groups for many a year.
If you don't want to appear a fool in front of people you mistakenly see
as your peers, don't act like one.
