Same story as with Apple's Fairplay-protected AAC, except that 98% of
MP3 players out there will play the WMA-DRM's so you don't have to
bother converting.

MS leaves it up to the vendor to decide what priviledges to give their

Some sources use different formats. Therefore iPod cannot play music
from "any source". Your logic fails.

Of course. Because locking iTunes to MacOS would be suicide. Nobody uses
Mac.

M$ locking? No. It's a case of M$ not wasting money supporting a
platform that nobody uses. Yes, Mac. Mac - which barely one in twenty
people use. It's just not worth it. Apple ported iTunes to Windows
because that's what probably 19 out of 20 iPod buyers use.

Nope. Why should I? Just about everybody uses Windows on their desktop
machines anyway. And the benefits outweigh the drawbacks - like I said
before, I can play WMA's on any of a few hundred MP3 players.
