Line in from a mixer. MP3MYMP3 records a good levels, but is too
complicated when saving files for another user unless I can get it to save
to a user-selected directory.

Hard limit is like a compressor, but puts a solid limit to input volume.
This causes severe distortion if the gain is too high, which is not very
high enough to get out of the noise floor (inherant noise of the sound
card). Again, this is not a problem with MP3MYMP3, so source and inputs
are fine. Problem is soemwhere in Audacity.
