Thanks to both of you for your replies. I had a brain freeze there,
forgot that I ordered a firewire port with the PC, doh! I'll probably
just upgrade to Premiere Pro 2, but might go to Avid in the future, as
an acquaintance of mine teaches it at the local county college.
