Maxtor is now owned by Seagate.
Seagate Barracuda and Cheetah are excellent drives.
Right now, my purchases are in 300 GB and larger PATA drives, usually
Seagate or Maxtor. Occasionally Hitachi/IBM. Whichever comes on sale
with no mail-in rebate requirement.
When 500 GB drives hit $0.33 per gig, I'm changing out my 200, 250 and
300 GB drives.
I have had so many large capacity WD SCSI drives fail that I have
permanently 86-ed this manufacturer. I won't even buy a WD ATA drive,
now.
