Then why isn't "Birth of a Nation" among the ten listed films?
And except for "Song of the South", all the choices are wacky, low-brow
comedies. (Maybe "Love and Death" isn't low-brow, but still...) A
truly subversive list would be more expansive. He also could have
picked "Triumph of the Will", "The Green Berets", "The Detective"
starring Frank Sinatra, a whole slew of westerns (racist against
American Indians) or old-fashioned war movies, or soap operas from the
50s with the Betty Crocker baking wife in the kitchen.
"There's Something About Mary"? Gee, what a safe and expected choice.
This is a politically correct "politically incorrect" list
