This is SO true.

I've long since learned that your reputation is the single most valuable
thing you can bring to the table in any business discussion.

And sterling reputations are built on excellent customer service,
honesty, and getting better with each job you do.

It's NOT built on spending your time viewing your customers as the enemy
to be bested in negotiations or figuring out how to manage them while
maximizing every nickel you can charge them.

Actually, forget that I said that.

On those rare occasions when I've needed to go looking for new clients -
there's nothing I like more than finding out that they've been quietly
pissed off about stuff like this with their current vendor.
