This problem is really starting to get frustrating. I took your advice (in
a way) and tried rendering the bad clip as a separate project. Believe it or
not, by itself it will render and burn without a problem. Put that same clip
in with the others, and it will cause a hang. I had tried trimming the clip
earlier, and it didn't work; the hangup seems to be linked to the project,
not the clip - it always hangs at exactly 0:56:26 (out of a 1-hour DVD).
I'm completely out of ideas at this point, it looks like the only option is
to scrap the project and start over. If this is what I'm going to run into
every 2 or 3 projects, I don't think I'll bother trying to transfer all my
home videos - it just isn't worth the trouble.
A lot of good this software is.......
