Search more newsgroups for opinions on Pinnacle, I think you'll find
more experiences like your own. I was considering getting version 10
until I found tons of complaints about it in usegroups. (I had used
version 7 through 9 until I'd had enough and started looking for an
affordable alternative) They seem to be happy to let the consumer pay
them to beta test their product. I would anxiously await the latest
revision or patch only to be dissapointed with the results. My
rendering would hang also.

So with all my research into available software in all the price ranges
I've learned this: video editing/rendering software is going to be
tricky business no matter how much you pay. Spend a couple of hours
searching use groups to read about other peoples' experiences with a
product you're considering. You'll develope a "feel" for the average
opinion, how well the product is supported, etc. Contact the company
before you buy to see what their return policy is. (If I'm not
cranking out dvd's after three months, I want my money back!)

My recommendation is that you give up on Pinnacle if their support has
nothing to offer and search for a new product.

The one I bought, based on price and reviews is Magix movie maker 11.
Not quite as intuitive as Pinnacle, but in the end it works, which is
more than I can say for Pinnacle.
