Re-encoding at a constant bitrate (CBR) does seem to produce soundfiles
that are both "skip"-free and have playing times that are accurately
synchronized with the time displays.

However, re-encoding using Audio Cleaning Lab 11 does take a reeeeally
long time -- at least 20 Minutes per 45 minute lecture).

Are there any products out there -- preferably in freeware -- that will
re-encode VBR Mp3 to CBRs more rapidly?

Thanks,
