I hope it's acceptable to post about this here, and that I've used the
correct headers.
I am a postgraduate research student at Roehampton University currently
working on my PhD thesis. The subject matter of the research is the
DVD media format and the popular collectors market which has grown up
around it since its introduction in 1997.
The completed thesis will incorporate research into a number of aspects
of DVD, including the presentation of films and other programmes on the
format, how it is marketed and presented for consumption, and how
viewers themselves think about and make use of it. Specifically, I am
interested in discovering how viewers and consumers of DVDs select
particular titles for purchase and/or rental; what they think about the
format in general and how it is discussed, marketed and sold; and how
they watch the films, programmes and special features contained on the
discs.
