Re: OT:E-bay dispute - damadged goods - the next phase

The cassette deck was sent by Standard Parcel Service and was not signed for
and, as far as I'm concerned, if I receive faulty goods I should have the
right to return them for a refund, irrespective of any claim against the
Post Office. After all, if you buy something from a company and it turns out
to be faulty, you return it right?
The Royal Mail website is a little vague about who should claim, but common
sense would indicate the seller, so I decided to take it to the PO and ask
them.

Okay, so informed the seller, on Friday, that I thought that it was his
responsibility (both the damaged goods and the claim against the Post
Office) and that I was going to send it back for a refund and recieved no
reply. On Saturday I took it down the PO and they said it was the seller's
responsibility to claim. So I sent it off.

This Morning (Monday) I received a message from the seller saying that I
would have to be patient because he was out of the country till Sept 1st and
that I would have to wait till then. He would then check the deck and if
faulty he would try and get a refund from the PO. Only then, IF he was
successful, would I get my refund!
Am I alone in thinking this is WAAAAAY out of order? It means that nothing
will be done untill after the 30-day ebay/paypal deadline. A week has gone
by already.

Methinks I should contact Paypal forthwith etc.
