Sure Bill, I'll be right over to share Kool-Aid with you,
but we'll have to take your plane because I don't have one.
I'm not rich unless you compare me to some of the folks
that live in the third world. I do OK though and really have
no complaints when I see how some people;e have to
scrape to get by. If I did have a lot of money, I'd rather
see it go to my kids than to the Bush and company.
To ordinary working folks, a million dollars looks like a
lot of money. But when you put it into a business and
have to buy vehicles, stock the shelves, pay the insurance,
fix the roof on a commercial building, pay more taxes at
every turn, etc., etc. a million dollars doesn't go too far.
I'm far from even being a millionaire, but when I need a tool
like a professional DV deck or even a C-wrench, I can't go to
the boss and say get me one of these, I have to dig in my
own pocket to pay for it. Oh joy, I've got a new C-wrench.
Boy do I ever feel rich now.
If employees had to pay 100% of their insurance, and buy
their own tools right down to the desk and pencils, they
might have a different attitude. Many of us in this group
have to do exactly that. Ask Bill Farnsworth how much
money he has to lay out every year just to stay current
enough to keep getting hired. That gets even harder as
we get older.
