Before you spend the money on Audition, try Audacity (free) at
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ or Reaper ($200 - functionally similar
to Vegas but audio-only) at http://www.cockos.com/reaper/
I've been following Reaper's development and the guy doing it is VERY
quick to respond to user requests.
