They are called "XLR" or sometimes "Canon"
(after the original manufacturer).

Certainly. But it depends somewhat on the source and
destination equipment whether you can use a simple
adapter/cable, or whether you need additional things
to properly interface the equipment.

give you some useful recommendations. Trying to discuss
