I've ripped most of my CDs to mp3 and listen to my music collection
primarily via the media server PC. But I still have the bookshelf on CDs "on
display" - it looks impressive and it's still good to every now and then get
out the CD and look at the artwork, etc.
I wouldn't consider getting rid of my CDs, as I like the display aspect of
them, and you never know what future codecs might come along - maybe
something "better" than mp3, etc, which would require re-ripping. I've
ripped them at 320kbps mp3s to favour higher-quality sound over filesize,
but I figure that maybe in a few years hard drives/portable players will
have high enough capacity to re-rip my CDs to a lossless format. So I'm
keeping mine :-)
