The presumption of the aristocracy and stiff manners are not the only
measure of class and certainly not of the type I was thinking of, but
even so, their mere facade of ponciness belies the fact of their
immense ruggedness and durability, this same group still make up some of
the hardest men in the army today, world class in that respect, as
current events are demonstrating so emphatically. These are the
decedents of those marine adventurers and empire builders (pirates to
everyone else), whose achievements in the face of ridiculous odds are
unlikely to be repeated. Furthermore it's my experience that they will
fart and belch with a lot greater abandoned aplomb than most.
