Exactly, not all hardware based mpeg2 encoders are alike. You will almost
always get a better quality recording using a Panasonic, Sony or Pioneer
settop recorder over the like of the under $100 walmart boxes.

Also, you must realize that when recording in 6 hour mode with that LiteOn ,
it is dropping down to mpeg1, 320x240 mode?
