There is a large excel spreadsheet named "Billboard Pop ME (1890-2006)
20060812.xls" which contains much of the information from Joel Witburn's
chart books for all charted songs from 1890 to present.
It is updated periodically in the newsgroup
"alt.binaries.sounds.whitburn.pop". It is huge, about 44 MB. The list
contains all the yearly chart info as well as the writers and original
record label. Highest chart position reached and rank for the year are also
included. There must be thousands of manhours involved in putting it
together over the years.
