I have an ILO DVDR-05MU1 unit from WalMart. It is the Cyberhome 1600.
Cyberhome is either out of business or about to be put out of
business. WalMart no longer carries any ILO products.
In one of my many conversations with tech support at Cyberhome when
there was an 800 toll free number to call, the tech said the reason
they turn the power off automatically is that the unit suffers from a
"heat problem". I did not realize at the time what he was talking
about, but now I do.
I have had the unit for 10 months and recently I had to use a Maxell
Lens Cleaner to get it to read discs again. But now I have a new
problem and it is heat related.
If the unit has been powered off for about an hour or two, then when I
turn it on and insert a disc, it reads it properly. But if I have run
the unit for a while - say 1/2 hour - then when I try to insert a new
disc, it fails to read the disc properly. I get error messages ranging
from "No disc" to "Format disc?" to "Unrecognized Disk". Sometimes it
manages to read something but it won't go to the Title Menu, either
automatically as it is supposed to, or manually. That's because it has
failed to read the TS files that have menu information.
I am going to take the cover off and clean the dust out with
compressed gas designed for cleaning electronics. I also will clean
the lens very carefully.
Please comment and give your recommendations.

Govt is an insult to human dignity. With or without govt,
you would have good people doing good things and evil
people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil
things, that takes govt. Govt is the root of all evil.
