1) Register at your local community college for a course. Any course.
Knitting, painting, what ever's cheapest. All you have to do is be a
registered student, you don't have to actually take the class.
2) Go to www.apple.com and click on the student discounts icon.
Using your new student discount buy the following:
Mac Pro with
* Two 2.0GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
* 2GB (4 x 512MB)
* 250GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
* NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 256MB (single-link DVI/dual-link DVI)
* Apple Cinema HD Display (23" flat panel)
* One 16x SuperDrive
* Apple Keyboard and Mighty Mouse - U.S. English
* Mac OS X - U.S. English
for $3198
3) On the same Apple site, using your student discount, get
Final Cut Studio 5.1 for $699
4) Go to MacSales and buy a Seagate Barracuda 500Gb hard drive
for $219.99, install it your self with the instructions included with
your Mac Pro.
5) Stay at MacSales and get a 500Gb Mercury Elite-AL Pro external hard
drive (Firewire400/800) for.$289.99 The Firewire cord is included along
with some decent back-up software.
6) Go to Crucial Technologies and get 2 Gb of extra RAM (2 x 1Gb chips)
for $499, install them yourself with the instructions included with your
Mac Pro
Total = $4705.98 (not including the community college registration)
Use the rest for the shipping charges.
