When downloading movies from the Internet most are broken down into
two AVI files. They are always labeled cd1 and cd2. and have
different bit rates These downloaded files cannot be authored
directly with Encore DVD or DVDLabPro for a number of reasons. I have
yet to download an AVI file with an acceptable NTSC resolution of
704x480 or 720x480 or 720x486 or an acceptable PAL resolution of
704x576 or 720x576.
I am currently using ConvertXToDVD to get the two files in DVD format
and then using VOBedit & IFOedit to join the files into one before I
burn it to a DVD, it works well. However, if I have ConvertXToDVD add
chapters or a menu (VIDEO_TS.VOB) then things do not work well.
IFOedit gives a warning if a menu is involved and if chapters are
involved (and no menu VIDEO_TS.VOB) then the disc will not play
correctly on a DVD player connected to a TV, it pauses at the end of
every chapter that belongs to the previously second AVI file (cd2) and
I must force it to advance to the next chapter. This does not happen
when played on a PC.
I am looking for a (simple/easy) way to convert and/or join these AVI
files to an acceptable authoring format (resolution & bit rate). I
suppose I could go through several conversion process, each taking an
hour or so to get what I need, but I am hoping there is a more direct
(one stop shop) way of doing it.
I appreciate any input in solving this problem.
TIA
