Hey Bob,Just finished trying everything you suggested. I really appreciate all
 the help. This seems like a lost cause. The frustrating thing is that I
 know the dvd can work (it has done this before and was somehow tuned by
 a technician to show the picture again.
 It's connected via a yellow analog connection to my old Sony TV.
 I wish LG would send a technician over to fix it here but I guess
 service is not what it used to be..
