How to repair an AVI file?

Posted by William E. Shawcross on 11/08/06 16:46

I have a reconstituted .avi file that is missing a chunk out of the
middle -- segment 22 out of about 48. I have compiled the file with
segment 22 missing, and it will play until it hits the missing segment.
Also, I have compiled the first and second segments separately. The
first segment plays, the second isn't recognized as a video file.

Unfortunately I don't have any .PAR2 files for this, and all of the
tools I've tried won't recognize the second part. Are there any tools
or techniques for dealing with this problem? If it were an .mpg I'd
probably be OK, but since it isn't recognized as a video file, I can't
convert it.

Thanks! -- Bill Shawcross
