Since you didn't say so, we will assume that you want to
put the video into a file so that you can edit/convert it?
You also didn't name "my program". These items of info
are enormously valuable to try to scope out exactly what
 you need here.

Many (but certainly not ALL) mini-DV camcorders will
do "pass-thru" where you can plug an analog video/audio
signal into their input connector and they will digitize the
video/audio into a "DV stream" out of their Firewire port.
You can then plug this into the Firewire port on a computer
and capture the video just as if it were coming from a tape
 in the camcorder itself.

There are also standalone boxes (such as the well-favored
Canopus ADVC-110) which do video conversion in both
directions. The ADVC-55 does input-only for less $$$

Depending on what you are doing with this video, and what
your quality expectations are, you are far more likely to find
eqipment that uses Firewire than USB. USB1.x is too slow
for video, and USB2 is generally used only by equipment
which uses MPEG compression (like mini-DVD camcorders)
