I'd like to replace my aging VCR with a DVD recorder of some sort,
but wonder if I'll be able to control one through my Dish Network
satellite box.
The STB has an IR blaster and can control many VCRs to start and stop
recording controlled by timers set in the STB itself.
Unfortunately, the manual only covers VCRs and makes no mention of
DVD recorders. Dish's so-called tech support blew me off, saying if
it's not in the book, they don't support it. I suppose they'd rather
sell me one of their own DVRs.
Do the DVDRs of various vendors share remote codes with their VCRs
and respond to the same start/stop commands?
