I thot so, too, but clearly in this thread, on this subject, you never
condemnd DVD to be dead.

IMO, DVDs likely not going to be dead for quite a while. It's not even
really clear yet if HD-DVD/BR will or will not be DOA or perhaps merely
a niche product.

What's that old line, "No one ever went broke underestimating the
public" or soemthign like that. I think by now, it's pretty clear taht
DVD satisfies the quality concerns of the median movie viewer. Unless
there's a strong cost benefit or convenience benefit, that it's going
to be a tough sell. This is, of course, irritating for people that DO
value picture quality/fidelity.

I've been watching some h.264-encoded MKVs and they look pretty damb
good and I'm really ready to watch some HR HD stuff on my HDTV, but...

ah, but this is way OT, anyway.

Interestng, about the list, Friends, Seinfeld, and Simpsons are all
legacy titles. And you can almost hear the echoes of the screams of
the Comedy Central suits bemoaning the los of Chappelle Show.
