One of the problems I run into is the variance in audio levels, which I
why I recommend a good compressor/limiter. Cable techs use a tone,
which is good for getting it in the right neighborhood, but you need to
send some worst-case program audio through. Headend techs often set
THEIR residential mod level so that YOUR audio is roughly equal to
neighboring channels, but it doesn't help if they do it with an
especially loud or quiet program. It's really a trial and errot thing.
Unless you use a really good compressor.
