I use all of the following programs (for different things):
From http://www.pegasys-inc.com/
* TDA v1.6: TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6
This version works well in extracting from the +RW discs and creates
..mpg files that can be imported by TDE.
This might not be available, see note on v2.0 below.

* TDE TMPGEnc MPEG Editor v2
Can cut with frame precision and provides an easy way to correct the
16:9 flag within the .mpg file. It also has some sound processing.

* TMPGEnc Xpress
Can mask, crop and apply image processing.

* TDA v2 TMPGEnc DVD Author 2.0
This handles dual sound tracks and dual layer authoring. It also
includes the frame cutting feature from TDE. Unfortunately I get sound
drop outs when extracting with this version of TDA and also TDE. TDA
v1.6 works. I was in contact with Pegays about it but never heard of
any fix. The .mpg files that TDA 1.6 extracted can be imported without
problems, though.

To the above, also the AC-3 sound plug-in is needed.

The DVD-player command to jump the playback to a certain h:mm:ss
within the title is disabled by my Philips recorder. There is a list
in the IFO files that can inhibit various things (such as to prevent
you to skip or scan passed the copy right notice).

It is possible to enable the function with the freeware program
IFOEdit and burn to another disc, and I haven't noticed any side
effects. IFOEdit can also correct the 16:9 flag in the .ifo files if
the menu and cuts are OK as it is.
