Everybody always complains that the artists won't get paid. That sounds
more appealling than saying that the record companies won't get their
cut, but considering the proportion of the price of the CD that actually
goes to the artist, that's not a very compelling argument.
The "stokers" are not the artists: they are the agents and promoters and
record company managers.

Read about Tom Petty (and an endless list of others) and his numerous
lawsuits against his own record company. Thieves like us?
