The analog signal has information if it is 16:9 or 4:3 (4:3 letterbox
is 4:3 and not 16:9) and a TV will switch according to that. (Should
not be mixed up with some auto modes in some TV that scans for black
areas and zooms). My question is if this information is send to the
firewire to preserve the ratio...
