Not true. DVD+R must be finalized. DVD+RW does not. There is no distinct
advantage of using +R discs. A local company doing tape to DVD services came
to me because they were having a great number of discs returned by customers
complaining they were unplayable. Over several years about one third of all
discs were being returned. The recorders they had been using were Philips
which use only +R/RW discs.

After switching their systems to all -R/RW recorders the return rate dropped
to about 2%. All the recent customers who had returned discs were made happy
when a simple duplication of the +R disc was made to -R which played back
for them properly.
