Huh? So you're saying Blu-ray is not backed by some of the biggest
companies around like Samsung, Panasonic, Philips, Sony, Disney, 20th
century fox, Sun, IBM, etc, etc, etc?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_corporations_supporting_Blu-ray
It's like stocks, day traders look at the ups and downs of stocks on a
daily business, but real investors (and big fund managers) look at the
long term trends and profit much more.
Blu-ray started slow, but its momentum because of the overwhelming
backing from all these companies will slowly but surely squash HD-DVD,
which honestly is being produced mainly by a small, low-end company,
Toshiba.
In the long run, Blu-ray will have:
1. More titles by far (because 5 major studios like Disney, Sony, and
20th century fox are NOT producing HD-DVD titles, while only 1 studio
is not producing for blu-ray)
2. More players worldwide, because playstation 3 will far outsell any
HD-DVD only player (and already has!), and approx 80% of playstation
owners already said they would start buying blu-ray titles.
As I said, you can already see in the graph how, even though blu-ray
started out late, it already closed the gap and is accelerating faster
than HD-DVD sales, which looks suspiciously flat to me.
