Would like a little help in finding a solution to a problem.
I have two DVD burners. Both are LiteOn (LVW-5005XS and LVC-9006)

I want to burn some DVDs of TV shows to send to my son over in Sweden (He is
 stationed there).

He does have a lap top and can watch the DVDs.

The TV in his apartment is a Lumatron with a built in DVD player and it is
 for Swedish TV.

I contacted LiteOn to find out if when I burn DVDs it places a Region Code
 on the DVD.

Sales department tells me YES and the Tech department tell me NO

If it does place a Region Code, it looks the kid has to watch TV on his
 laptop.

If not, well my knowledge of DVDs is about the same level as my knowledge of
 brain surgery.

Are DVD formats the same the world over. I understand the output from the
player is going to be PAL (Not 100% as I do not have the model number of the
 TV).

I was wondering, is the format of the signal on a DVD the same the world
over and it would be the Region Code that would cause the problem (if it's
there) or is the actual format on the DVD vary from country to country or
 region to region.

I was going to send him one of these "Will play and DVD on any TV in any
Country" models, but he feels that it would be something else to ship back.

 Would appreciate any help/suggestions.
