I reckon the cause is inCD. I had disabled inCD in my Startup programs
manager, but still found a program inCDsrv.exe (described as 'inCD
helper') running in the XP Task List. Anyone know why that should be
please? Why should it run independently? And exactly how does it
'help'?
Anyway, I am considering uninstalling inCD, as this is not the first
time I've had bizarre behaviour which I've eventually decided is
somehow caused by it. Trouble is, it is convenient to be able to use a
CD as a sort of gigantic floppy, and I'll miss that. Maybe a USB flash
device is the answer...
I've also emailed Nero Tech Support, but on past experience not
hopeful of a reply.
