In the theatrical release, and DVD release of the theatrical release, the
baby alien does appear and Ripley grabs it.
In the 'assembly cut' version, that doesn't happen.
Now then: if your DVD is the SE one that includes the 'assembly cut' then
make sure which version you choose at the menu. The disc contains both and
the DVD uses branching to play the right scenes to make up either version.
