I was initially going HD DVD only, due to the price of the add on for
the 360 and the fact that all the discs are currently region free,
whereas only some Blu Ray are..

With the drop in price of Blu Ray players and the release of Casino
Royale, I gave in a bought a Blu Ray player too, so I'm covered on both
formats.

I honestly don't see any difference in picture quality between the two.
Although there are the different sound formats on each system to take
into account. I don't actually have an HDMI capable amp (will probably
be might next upgrade, some time in the future).

I've no idea who's going to win the war, if anybody, I can definitely
see a place for dual format players, otherwise they may just end up
being niche products, much like DVD-Audio and SACD.
